About the Role
Systemiq is seeking a talented Geospatial Data Scientist to join its ANALYTIQ team. This role will leverage advanced analytical models to address complex system challenges across various platform areas, contributing to system-level impact in areas like strategy advisory, sustainable finance, and venture capital. The position involves collaboration with leading institutions and offers the opportunity to work within a dynamic team dedicated to fostering system change.
Responsibilities
- Work across SYSTEMIQ's platform teams (energy, materials, nature, finance) on live projects, bringing geospatial analytics and expertise to support project delivery.
- Design and build reusable models and interactive tools that deliver user insights.
- Contribute to Analytiq's internal tooling stack, including reusable scripts, data pipelines, and applications to enhance project team efficiency and scale impact.
- Introduce the latest geospatial, data science, and AI-assisted development methods to the sustainability analytics community and integrate new techniques into live projects.

Skills
- Strong quantitative/analytical background.
- Hands-on use of GIS software (QGIS, ArcGIS).
- Proficiency with geospatial Python libraries (GeoPandas, Rasterio, GDAL).
- Experience handling raster and vector datasets at scale.
- Familiarity with Python programming.
- Understanding of open source and proprietary data sets.
- Willingness to learn a broader set of skills to deliver impact.
- Comfort using AI tools to accelerate the design and build of scripts, dashboards, or lightweight web applications.
- Knowledge of nature/carbon accounting methodologies (beneficial).
- Knowledge of climate risk analysis and scenario modelling (beneficial).
- Domain expertise on environmental science, climate models, and Integrated Assessment Models (IAMs) (beneficial).
- Domain expertise on land-use or food-systems modelling (beneficial).
- Domain expertise on extreme-weather/precipitation trend analysis (beneficial).
- Experience and interest in building and deploying web-based tools (front- and back-end experience is a plus).
- Database management skills and experience (beneficial).
