About the Role

The Respite Youth Support (RYS) plays an essential role with children, ages 5-18, staying in a Children’s Crisis Residence at Elmcrest. The RYS utilizes a child-centered approach to teach, guide, and support youth in managing their unique situations so that they can return home and avoid hospitalization.

Responsibilities

• Teach and foster a youth’s skill development relative to his/her individual needs.
• Interact and intervene with youth in accordance with their treatment plans.
• Develop and provide a safe and secure physical environment for each youth.
• Provide continuous supervision of youth.
• Use Therapeutic Crisis Intervention de-escalation techniques.
• Demonstrate appropriate social boundaries.
• Have a supportive demeanor and unconditional positive regard for the youth.
• Actively involve youth in all facets of programming.
• Transport and accompany youth to school, work, and appointments.
• Complete all assigned paperwork accurately and on time.
• Attend staff meetings.
• Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and hazard-free program.
• Comply with regulatory standards.
• Follow all agency and department policies & procedures.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds without assistance.
• Ability to sit, squat, crouch and stand for elongated periods of time.
• Ability to lift arms over head in upward reaching motion.
• Ability to walk up and downstairs up to several times per day.
• Valid driver’s license and auto insurance, free from major infractions and deemed acceptable to our insurance carrier.
• Varying levels of travel as determined by departmental needs may be required.
