About the Role

The Diagnostic Specialist I performs radiologic procedures, assists in the coordination of patient flow, ensures supply availability, and is responsible for daily equipment maintenance and organization of x-ray films. This role utilizes the PACS system for film processing, patient registration, and study completion for billing purposes.

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostic radiologic services by operating imaging equipment, positioning and immobilizing patients, calculating exposure factors, and practicing radiation protection.
• Evaluates radiographs for technical quality and assumes care for patients' physical and psychological needs during examinations.
• Assists physicians with imaging procedures.
• Maintains patients' x-ray imaging and coping as requested.
• Performs clerical duties related to administrative activities of the clinical x-ray area.
• Assumes full responsibility for assigned area.
• Assumes responsibility for the x-ray portion of quality assurance and complies with all federal and state regulations.
• Maintains daily equipment maintenance records.
• May assist in scheduling vacation time and coverage to ensure clinical activity is not compromised.
• Pursues on-going continuing education opportunities.
• Performs other relevant duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Graduate of an AMA approved radiography program.
• 1 year minimum of experience taking radiographs is preferred.
• NYS Radiologic Technologist (ARRT).
