About the Role

The lab of Dr. Romina Bevacqua is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to conduct transformative research on human diabetes and pancreatic islet biology. The research aims to advance understanding of adult human islet functionality, leading to novel treatment approaches for diabetic patients. Specific areas of focus include regulatory mechanisms of human islet maturation, the genetic basis of their dysregulation in disease, and applications towards beta-cell regeneration and replacement therapies.

Responsibilities

Design and perform research studies
Perform high-throughput data analysis
Prepare figures and manuscripts
Apply for external fellowship competition
Contribute to grant applications
Supervise and train graduate students
Present work at internal, local, national and international meetings
Perform ongoing literature review to remain current with new procedures, computational tools and related research
Propose new research directions based on advances discussed in literature

Requirements

Recent PhD in Cellular Biology, Diabetes, Genetics, Genomics, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or related field
Experience in molecular biology techniques and high-throughput experimental methods (preferred)
Experience in cell culture and mice handling (preferred)
Goal-oriented and self-motivated with excellent verbal and written scientific communication skills
Excellent organizational and project management skills
Strong problem-solving skills
Able to work well in multidisciplinary and collaborative research environment
A track record of conference presentations and first author peer-reviewed publications
