About the Role
The Clinical Program Manager is responsible for assuring compliance with mandated clinical orientation, competency assessment, and interventions for designated nursing staff within the Medical Center. This individual manages the educational and operational impact of clinical care delivery, staff performance, and outcome measures to support clinical practice.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, coordinate, and evaluate clinical programs and services related to core measures.
- Coordinate core measures and clinical intervention compliance activities in conjunction with Nursing, Medical, and Quality Leadership.
- Assist in developing and designing action plans to support compliance with measures indicators.
- Provide support and educational resources to departments and services regarding core measures quality assessment and improvement processes.
- Assist in establishing and implementing short and long-term goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures for core measures programs.
- Provide coordination and leadership in the execution of day-to-day program activities.
- Oversee the collection, compilation, and analysis of clinical program activity data.
- Provide technical assistance, resource services, consultation, and education to clinical departments regarding core measures activities.
- Participate in and conduct process improvement analysis.
- Responsible for program extension in terms of new services or areas.
- Promote an interdisciplinary approach in patient care delivery.
- Serve as a resource for patients and their families.
- Act as a patient advocate utilizing the Patient Bill of Rights.
- Participate in promoting and maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment.
- Support the mission, philosophy, goals, and objectives of the Department of Nursing and The Mount Sinai Medical Center.
- Maintain clinical competence.
- Be responsible and accountable for own nursing practice.

- Prepare reports and analysis associated with the institution's core measures programs.
- Facilitate cooperation within the program between all departments, services, and units.
- Provide timely status reports of results of quality monitoring, including identification of patterns and trends that require actions.
- Collaborate with other members of the health care team in the development, implementation, and ongoing review of policies, procedures, and standards of care for designated patient populations.
- Demonstrate knowledge of hospital, departmental, and care center standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines, as well as regulatory agency standards.
- Assure readiness for Joint Commission and other agency surveys and present related programs during Joint Commission and other agency visits.
- Participate in the development and implementation of continuous quality improvement programs.
- Participate in quality management activities, including identifying and communicating issues of performance improvement and risk in a timely manner.
- Participate in committee activities.
- Be aware of and responsive to budgetary constraints and incorporate financial principles into program development and allocation of resources.
- Recognize each individual's right to healthcare unrestricted by age, race, color, sex, age, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, or source of payment.
- Assist in the performance appraisal process of designated Nursing staff.
- Research opportunities for use in benchmarking for assigned areas.
Requirements
- Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is required.
- Master's in Nursing is required.
- Progressive job-related experience specific to area of responsibility.
- New York State License with current registration as a registered professional nurse.
- Nurse practitioner preferred.
