About the Role

The Business Control Unit (BCU) Institutional Securities Documentation Team is seeking a derivatives and financing documentation negotiator with a focus on institutional clients of the Fixed Income, Commodities, and Finance Divisions. The role involves collaborating with various Firm areas, interacting with external clients, and negotiating different types of derivatives documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Identifying necessary documentation for clients to trade securities or OTC derivatives and performing related due diligence scans.
  • Drafting and negotiating legal documentation, including master agreements, amendments, and ancillary documents for OTC derivatives, repurchase, or stock loan transactions.
  • Handling client negotiations and related projects to ensure timely execution and completion.
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders in Credit, Risk Management, Legal, and Sales to negotiate contractual terms and respond to internal and external questions.
  • Understanding and adhering to established procedures.
  • Communicating with clients and external counsel.
  • Keeping abreast of market developments and sharing updates with internal stakeholders.
  • Updating internal workflow tools.

Requirements

  • Fluency in French language at a business level is essential.
  • Experience in negotiating French language master agreements is useful, but not essential.
  • Experience in negotiating agreements for OTC derivatives, repurchase, or stock loan transactions is useful, but not essential.
  • Prior experience in a law firm or the financial industry negotiating trading agreements.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent people skills, with the ability to interface with a variety of people with different skills and seniority levels.
  • General comfort with Technology, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to learn quickly, including internal computer systems.
  • Ability to set, track, achieve, and report on short/long-term goals and projects.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and a self-starter (highly proactive).
  • Comfortable interacting with junior and senior colleagues.
  • Commercial mindset.
  • Willingness to assist/teach other team members.
  • Ability to work collaboratively on group projects and independently on individual assignments.
