About the Role

Support the Rates Hedge Fund Sales desk within the front office, acting as first-line support for Sales. Ensure timely, accurate, and controlled capture of new trades and lifecycle events. Book new trades, price and coordinate new trades, unwinds, novations, and restructures. Resolve client and desk issues by working closely with Sales, Trading, Operations, Legal, Middle Office, Risk, and other support teams. Build a strong network, understand the full lifecycle of Rates Derivatives trades, and proactively challenge existing processes to identify improvements, reduce risk, and strengthen desk support.

Responsibilities

  • Provide immediate and efficient technical support to traders and sales professionals on the trading desks, resolving hardware, software, and network-related issues.
  • Coordinate trade execution by liaising with traders, clients, and other internal teams.
  • Maintain and update trade records, transaction logs, and client databases accurately.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and documentation to support sales and trading activities.
  • Monitor market data and assist in the analysis of financial information for trading decisions.
  • Process trades, confirm orders, and resolve trade discrepancies.
  • Advise and influence decision-making, contribute to policy development, and take responsibility for operational effectiveness.
  • Collaborate closely with other functions/business divisions.
  • Lead a team performing complex tasks, using well-developed professional knowledge and skills.
  • Set objectives and coach employees, appraise performance, and determine reward outcomes.
  • Lead collaborative assignments and guide team members through structured assignments.
  • Identify the need for the inclusion of other areas of specialization to complete assignments.
  • Identify new directions for assignments and/or projects.
  • Consult on complex issues, providing advice to People Leaders to support the resolution of escalated issues.
  • Identify ways to mitigate risk and develop new policies/procedures.
  • Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls.
  • Perform work that is closely related to that of other areas, requiring an understanding of how areas coordinate and contribute to organizational objectives.
  • Collaborate with other areas of work for business-aligned support.
  • Engage in complex analysis of data from multiple sources to solve problems creatively and effectively.

  • Understand the full lifecycle of Rates Derivatives trades.
  • Proactively challenge existing processes to identify improvements, reduce risk, and strengthen desk support.

Requirements

  • Previous Rates Trading or Sales experience, ideally gained in a front-office or closely aligned Trading and Sales Assistant capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of Interest Rate Derivatives, with the ability to understand, book and support complex trade structures across the full trade lifecycle.
  • Excellent understanding of trade capture, pricing, amendments, unwinds, novations, restructures and post-trade lifecycle events.
  • Strong working knowledge of MarkitWire and the wider workflow required to confirm, process and resolve Rates Derivatives trade issues.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Strong risk awareness.
  • Ability to operate accurately under pressure in a fast-paced client and sales environment.
  • Ability to quickly build a strong internal network across Sales, Trading, Operations, Middle Office, Legal, Risk and Technology to coordinate issue resolution for clients and the desk.
  • Proactive mindset, with the confidence to challenge existing processes and identify opportunities to improve control, efficiency and service quality.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to manage priorities, escalate effectively and provide clear updates to Sales, clients and internal stakeholders.
