About the Role
As a Life Underwriter in our Retail Underwriting team, you’ll play a key role in helping customers protect what matters most. Working closely with advisers, customers and internal partners, you’ll assess risk thoughtfully and make balanced underwriting decisions that support sustainable outcomes. This role sits at the heart of our life insurance business, where technical judgement, customer care and collaboration come together. Responsibilities
- Assessing new business, policy additions and alterations across life risk products.
- Making timely, high-quality underwriting decisions aligned to Zurich’s risk appetite and philosophy.
- Providing technical underwriting guidance and support to advisers and internal stakeholders.
- Building strong, trusted relationships with internal teams, reinsurers and distribution partners.
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and capability uplift across the team.
- Acting as a positive ambassador for the Retail Underwriting team and Zurich values.
Requirements
- Experience in individual life underwriting, ideally within a retail environment.
- Demonstrated underwriting authority and sound technical decision-making capability.
- Strong understanding of life insurance products, risk assessment and industry practices.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulation and underwriting frameworks.
- Ability to manage workload effectively while maintaining quality and turnaround times.
- Confidence using underwriting systems and working in a digitally enabled environment.

- Hybrid working arrangement – 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home per week for full-time employees.
