About the Role

Our 3rd year Pharmacy Interns play a critical role in supporting pharmacy teams, developing their skills, and preparing for future pharmacist roles. This role involves applying academic knowledge to real-world practice under the guidance of a preceptor, gaining hands-on experience in pharmacy operations, and contributing to excellent patient care.
Responsibilities
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap, focusing on Key Learning Experiences (KLEs).
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure smooth operations, prompt, safe, and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Provide caring service that exceeds patient expectations.
- Operate as part of the pharmacy team through consistent application of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), best practices, and effective communication.
- Demonstrate empathy and genuine care in all interactions.
- Contribute to a safe and inclusive culture.
- Follow company SOPs at each workstation to help manage and improve patient health.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by creating heartfelt and personalized moments.
- Keep patients healthy by offering immunizations and other services.
- Demonstrate compassionate care by solving or escalating patient problems.
- Counsel patients, field medical questions, and solicit medical history information under supervision.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and clarify or facilitate medication changes with prescribers, where allowed by state regulation.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as putting away deliveries and completing cycle counts.
- Contribute to a high-performing team, embrace a growth mindset, and be receptive to feedback.
- Actively seek opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge.
- Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs.
- Voluntarily travel to stores in the market to work shifts as needed.
- Understand and comply with all relevant laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles.
- Comply with CVS policies and procedures to ensure patient safety, compliance with controlled substance dispensing and recordkeeping, and to protect patient privacy and security.
- Deliver additional patient health care services where allowable by law.
- Complete additional licensure and training requirements to support preparing and administering vaccines.
- Educate patients about the importance of vaccines.
- Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions; report adverse reaction events.
- Review and collect patient information; track and document for each applicable patient.
Requirements
- Accepted into, or actively enrolled in, an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure as required.
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe.
- Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time.
- Ability to pivot quickly from one task to another to meet patient and business needs.
- Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy, ensuring patient safety.
