About the Role
We are seeking enthusiastic Assistant Managers to gain M&A tax experience, advising mid-market private equity firms and large acquisitive corporates on transactions ranging from millions to over £1 billion. This role involves technical tax application, client interaction, and strong organizational skills within a fast-paced, technically led environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide tax structuring advice and undertake tax due diligence on buy-side and sell-side transactions.
- Support clients throughout the entire deal lifecycle, from proposal to post-deal advice.
- Manage client relationships and present findings to clients and target management teams.
- Lead the preparation for and support due diligence meetings.
- Prepare due diligence analysis, review data, and ensure accurate meeting notes and reports.
- Prepare structuring reports considering key tax implications and commercial requirements.
- Collaborate with internal tax specialists (corporation tax, VAT, employment taxes, stamp taxes, overseas taxes), TAS, and Corporate Finance teams.
- Build external relationships with intermediaries, law firms, banks, and private equity firms.
- Assist with proposal preparation and manage project budgets.
- Conduct technical research using legislation, tax authority guidance, and firm resources.
- Manage workload and prioritize tasks based on project demands.
Requirements
- UK tax experience.
- ATT/ACA/CTA qualified or part-qualified.
- Corporation tax compliance experience.
- Exposure to other tax issues such as transfer pricing, R&D, VAT, employment taxes, stamp duty, and share transactions.
- Experience advising on technical tax matters is beneficial.
- Demonstrable experience managing multiple deliverables, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines.
- Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills for preparing client and target documentation.
