About the Role

This role is for a Data Engineer to join a growing Data team, shaping and enhancing data capabilities. The position involves providing data engineering expertise for various initiatives, including Finance and Actuarial, AI-driven Claims Augmentation, and Azure Data Platform and Databricks deliverables. It offers an opportunity to apply expertise in Azure, Databricks, and data engineering techniques to business projects, requiring in-depth technical knowledge and stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining data solutions using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and Azure SQL Database.
  • Providing technical guidance and support to the development team as a senior member.
  • Assisting in creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation of data transformations, processes, and systems.
  • Fostering communications and relationships between team members and stakeholders to ensure expectations are managed and teams are aligned.
  • Development of good internal client relationships.
  • Bridging gaps between offshore, third-party development teams, internal development teams, and business stakeholders.
  • Keeping abreast of developments and trends in data and reporting technology.
  • Planning, tracking, and managing the progress of development activities in coordination with project managers and scrum masters.

Requirements

  • Experience in developing data solutions, demonstrating understanding of relational databases, common data warehousing concepts, ETL processes, and data modelling.
  • Strong T-SQL skills with experience in querying and manipulating data.
  • Familiarity with working within an Agile delivery environment, leveraging tools including Kanban boards, repositories, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF) or SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
  • Experience with Azure Databricks and Python.
  • Experience with Master Data Services (MDS) is beneficial.
  • Insurance or other financial service experience is desirable, preferably within a Lloyd’s Managing Agency.
  • Ability to work directly with business stakeholders, understand business problems, and deliver effective solutions.
  • Comfortable collaborating and working as part of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team.
  • Experience of working in an Agile delivery environment.
