About the Role
The Development Portfolio Management Team at OEGEN is responsible for delivering development investments and collaborates with developers to achieve investment cases amidst changing commercial and market dynamics. This role will focus on the active management of renewable energy development platforms, emphasizing financial modeling, investment appraisal, portfolio performance, capital allocation, and preparing materials for decision-making bodies.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain financial models for development platforms and project portfolios, evaluating IRR, downside scenarios, and capital needs.
- Assess how shifts in development timelines, project capacity, grid connectivity, permitting, and route-to-market impact overall returns.
- Prepare decision-focused materials for project funding, platform acquisitions, restructurings, and exits.
- Work directly with portfolio company leadership and internal specialists to align on investment cases.
- Monitor the operational and financial performance of portfolio companies against their approved business plans and budgets.
- Track project progress through key development stage-gates, including land, grid, permitting, RTB, NTP, and construction.
- Review requests for development expenditure and additional shareholder funding across competing projects and platforms.
- Rigorously challenge development timing, probability, and cost assumptions to decide whether to fund, pause, restructure, or sell projects.
- Provide shareholder oversight, valuation, and IC approval materials for acquisitions originated by portfolio companies.
- Analyze sale opportunities and transaction readiness for platform disposals or project transfers into operational IPP structures.
- Act as a board observer or steering committee member for selected portfolio companies, reviewing reserved matters and tracking board actions.
- Partner with portfolio company executives to challenge commercial data and improve governance consistency.
- Manage quarterly reporting across all development platforms, tracking development KPIs, liquidity, and milestone delivery.
- Maintain portfolio company and project valuation models, explaining value movements relative to operational delivery and market conditions.
Requirements
- Relevant experience in private equity, infrastructure investment, renewable energy investment, investment banking, corporate finance or a similar investment-led environment.
- Strong financial modelling, valuation and investment-analysis skills.
- Experience preparing investment committee, transaction or board materials.
- Good understanding of investment returns, capital allocation, risk assessment and value creation.
- Ability to analyse complex information and form clear, commercially grounded recommendations.
- Strong written communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage several workstreams and deadlines across multiple investments.
- High attention to detail without losing sight of the wider investment rationale.
- Confidence working with senior stakeholders, advisers and portfolio company management teams.
