About the Role
Help shape better outcomes for millions of Australians by strengthening risk across one of Australia's leading superannuation businesses. This is a highly visible role that combines deep superannuation expertise with strong operational risk capability. You'll work closely with senior stakeholders across the business, providing practical, commercial risk advice while supporting transformation initiatives in an evolving regulatory environment.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Line 1 teams to embed Group and Trustee Risk and Compliance Frameworks across the Master Trust business.
- Provide independent Line 2 risk oversight and constructive challenge across the end-to-end superannuation value chain, ensuring risks are effectively identified, assessed and managed.
- Review Trustee business plans, policies and Executive, Board and Committee papers, ensuring risk, governance, compliance and conflicts of interest are appropriately considered.
- Assess the effectiveness of controls, governance arrangements and risk management practices, identifying opportunities to strengthen the control environment and improve member outcomes.
- Support the management of incidents, breaches and conflicts of interest, applying sound judgement to regulatory obligations, reportability and remediation activities.
- Contribute to incident and breach forums, providing clear risk insights and helping drive timely and effective risk outcomes.
- Partner across Risk, Trustee Office, Operations and Transformation teams to provide pragmatic risk guidance and enable business change while maintaining strong governance.
- Foster a positive risk culture by encouraging curiosity, constructive challenge and continuous improvement across the business.
Requirements
- A tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce, Law or a related discipline.
- Strong experience within the Australian superannuation industry, including a deep understanding of trustee obligations, member outcomes and the end-to-end superannuation ecosystem across product, distribution and administration.
- Extensive experience in Operational Risk, Compliance or Enterprise Risk, with a proven ability to provide independent Line 2 oversight and constructive challenge.
- Strong knowledge of risk management frameworks, governance practices and regulatory obligations within financial services.
- Demonstrated experience strengthening controls, uplifting governance and improving risk maturity within complex organisations.
- A naturally curious and analytical mindset, with the confidence to ask insightful questions and influence better business decisions.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and challenge constructively at all levels.
- Experience supporting organisations through transformation and change, providing practical and commercially balanced risk advice.
