About the Role

Jensten Underwriting (MGA) is seeking a commercially minded and relationship-focused Commercial Underwriter to play a key role in the continued growth and profitability of our specialist schemes portfolio. The role involves underwriting new business, supporting broker development, and ensuring profitable scheme performance.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new commercial business in line with delegated authority.
• Provide competitive quotations and technical underwriting support to brokers.
• Build and develop strong relationships with brokers, supporting new business growth.
• Assist in broker development activities, identifying opportunities to increase income and profitability.
• Monitor and manage scheme performance, ensuring profitable outcomes for both the business and capacity providers.
• Support the development and enhancement of underwriting criteria, rating structures, policy wordings, terms, and conditions.
• Assist with the creation and launch of new insurance products and schemes.
• Monitor market trends and competitor activity to ensure products remain competitive and relevant.

Requirements

• Proven underwriting experience gained within an Insurer, MGA, or Scheme Broker environment.
• Strong experience underwriting Commercial Combined risks.
• Exposure to Contractors Combined business would be highly beneficial.
• A strong focus on new business generation and portfolio growth.
• Experience developing and managing broker relationships.
• Strong commercial awareness and understanding of insurance market dynamics.
• The ability to balance underwriting discipline with service excellence.
