About the Role
The Associate Medical Director ANZ is a strategic, country-level leadership role responsible for leading the Medical Affairs organisation and shaping the scientific and medical strategy that drives the continued success of Allergan Aesthetics across Australia and New Zealand. This role fosters a culture of scientific excellence and talent development, bridging Medical Affairs and commercial strategy.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute country-level Medical Affairs plans with an entrepreneurial and innovative spirit, contributing strategic input to Sub-Regional and country commercial plans while ensuring alignment with Global Medical Affairs priorities.
- Build and maintain credible, professional relationships with top-tier key opinion leaders, academic institutions, professional societies, and government bodies.
- Collaborate with the Country Leadership Team to drive a cohesive and high-performing Allergan Aesthetics organisation across ANZ.
- Build and mentor high-potential talent within the Medical Affairs team, fostering a culture of self-directed learning and development.
- Lead the medical review of Allergan Aesthetics promotional materials, ensuring scientific accuracy, appropriate referencing, and compliance with relevant regulatory standards.
- Report any adverse event within 24 hours as per AbbVie policies and procedures.
- Proactively participate in AbbVie’s WHS programs, adhere to policies and promote a safe work environment.
- Adhere to Allergan’s / AbbVie’s internal codes of conduct and compliance processes.
- Perform other ad hoc duties, such as administrative duties, as requested.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry within Medical Affairs.
- Demonstrated understanding of drug development and commercialisation processes.
- Sound and current knowledge of the ANZ legal and regulatory requirements and a solid understanding of trial design and methodology.
- Recent experience in launching new innovative products and supporting access for patients.
- Demonstrated ability to participate within an executive team and contribute to the development and implementation of winning strategies.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively in local language and English, written and verbal.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as the business requires.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills including taking ownership to ensure timely resolution, a strong sense of urgency, keen attention to detail, and the ability to plan, organise and successfully execute in an environment under time and resource pressures.
- Ability to meet tight timetables.
- Ability to establish systems and processes to attract, develop, engage, and retain talented individuals.
- Flexibility to occasionally participate in business meetings outside of standard hours to ensure effective collaboration within the global team.
