About the Role

The Activity Specialist will be responsible for facilitating workshops while ensuring the safety and engagement of children in programs that provide academic support, artistic, athletic, cultural, and athletic enrichment, therapeutic services, and opportunities for family involvement.

Responsibilities

  • Work with groups of 15-20 students
  • Facilitate sessions in the areas of dance, music, leadership, sports, ESL, visual arts, and computer
  • Integrate young people’s life experiences while integrating thematic curriculum
  • Create an environment of active and genuine learning by employing a range of teaching strategies that meet the needs of all students
  • Incorporate career awareness activities including field trips and guest speakers as well as community outreach and involvement into projects
  • Write, revise and implement lesson plans using DYCD framework for approval by director
  • Monitor and report on students’ progress throughout the term of the activity

Requirements

  • Previous experience teaching/facilitating workshops in one of the subject areas
  • High School Diploma or HSE required
  • Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team
  • Attend planning, supervisor, and evaluation sessions
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to commit for the entire school year
  • Must be over 18 years old
  • Highly energetic, dynamic, and positive
