About the Role

University Settlement partners with over 40,000 New Yorkers annually to foster healthy, stable, and remarkable lives. We empower our neighbors to build stable foundations for growth and dreams, strengthening communities through civic engagement, equality, and collective action across various programs.

Responsibilities

Create and lead engaging activities for up to 20 youth, ensuring their safety and comfort.
Design and implement lesson plans for multidisciplinary activities, incorporating positive youth development principles and student feedback.
Provide academic assistance during homework periods.
Plan and involve children in a range of multidisciplinary activities and thematic lessons.
Serve as a positive role model and maintain professional behavior.
Work constructively with co-counselors and colleagues, communicating regularly with supervisors.
Communicate with parents and caregivers regarding student progress and problem-solving.
Maintain responsibility for program supplies and facility usage.
Complete all necessary documentation and administrative tasks.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Requirements

High School Diploma or HSE required.
Current enrollment in college is a plus.
Experience working with middle and high school populations.
Ability to commit for the entire school year.
Must be over 18 years old.
Highly energetic, dynamic, and positive demeanor.
