Responsibilities

Support group leaders and program aides in assigned units by providing classroom assistance, aiding with participant behavior, facilitating activities, and acting as a liaison between group leaders and program management.
Support assigned units in planning and implementing theme-based projects and developmentally appropriate activities.
Maintain positive and cooperative working relationships with host schools, parents, staff, and children.
Strictly adhere to University Settlement policies, procedures, and Department of Health guidelines.
Maintain professional conduct, including strict confidentiality of employee and youth information and program files.
Supervise the arrival, snack, and dismissal of the assigned unit.
Maintain an inventory of program supplies and order supplies with Director approval.
Perform other duties, including Group Leader responsibilities, as assigned by the Director.
Design and implement innovative, quality educational and recreational activities for youth participants.
Actively participate in program-wide or division-wide activities.
Supervise homework and other in-class activities.
Demonstrate appropriate communication with families, teachers, staff, and children.
Attend regular staff meetings and trainings.
Track attendance, performance, and behavior through accurate record keeping.
Design and implement lesson plans that promote monthly themes.
Create a classroom environment that fosters working, learning, and creating.
Work collectively with on-site specialists.
Organize special events as necessary.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

Associate degree in child development, Elementary Education, or a related field, OR a High School Diploma and two years of direct experience working with children under 13 years of age.
Experience working with parent groups (e.g., volunteer groups, PTAs, AmeriCorps teams).
Familiarity working with youth in various settings.
Ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure.
Excellent organizational skills; ability to coordinate multiple tasks and responsibilities.
Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.
Must be able to serve as the "Next Person In Charge" when the supervisor is unavailable.
Must be able to support the Site Supervisor in maintaining the integrity of the program and established relationships with partners.
