About the Role

This role is responsible for managing and co-ordinating all audio-visual, staging and lighting production and technical aspects of the preparation, planning and delivery for functions, events and performances for internal and external customers across the City of Parramatta. Working across a 7-day operation, you will be required to work night shifts and over the weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all audio-visual, staging and lighting technical and production aspects of events and performances, ensuring high-quality delivery, safety compliance, and budget management.
  • Act as the key technical advisor for Council and external hirers, managing AV solutions, technical service delivery, stakeholder engagement, and client requirements.
  • Oversee the maintenance and strategic development of $2M+ in AV and staging assets, drive AV hire revenue, manage procurement, and expand technical service offerings.
  • Lead technical planning for capital works and service improvements, analyse client feedback, identify technology upgrades, and implement innovative solutions.
  • Develop and manage risk assessments, safety plans, and procedures while fostering a safe workplace and positioning Council as a leader in technical event services.
  • Oversee the supervision of a small team of casual technical operators.

Requirements

  • Significant demonstrated experience in technical/audio-visual services delivery or events production within a live performance / venue environment, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality technical services and solutions for live events. (Typically 5+year’s experience).
  • Strong background in managing and leading teams of technical staff, including full-time and casual audio visual, theatrical and/or staging technicians.
  • Extensive knowledge of technical production, including rigging, sound, vision, lighting, staging and special effects.
  • Proven ability to ensure the highest standards of client experience, leadership and operational management, and safety in the design and delivery of technical services.
  • Sound experience in financial management and reporting including quoting on technical services and equipment.
  • Tertiary level certification or qualifications in event production, audio-visual technical services design and delivery, or in a related discipline or equivalent professional experience.
  • Paid Working with Children Check must be uploaded as part of your application.
  • Must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or a permanent resident in Australia.
  • Criminal history check required.
  • Pre-employment medical check required, including Drug and Alcohol test.

Salary/Compensations

  • $117,540.29 to $129,411.13 + 12% superannuation
