About the Role
As a Senior Consultant or Manager, you will provide actuarial consulting to government and private clients, focusing on the health, aged care, disability, and human service sectors. Responsibilities include managing projects, delivering results, and offering strategic advice to help clients manage risk, optimize performance, and develop growth strategies.
Responsibilities
- Forge strategic partnerships with a diverse range of clients, making a significant impact in both the public and private sectors to enhance community wellbeing.
- Collaborate across our broader practice, including strategy, transactions, tax, technology, and risk professionals.
- Engage in a variety of projects – from designing system reforms, policy design and evaluation, system funding and costing analysis through to model validation and risk management.
- Develop and implement actuarial models and methodologies, analyze and interpret data to uncover critical insights for informed decision-making.
- Mentor and develop junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory and legislative changes, and actively contribute to business thought leadership.
- Champion continuous improvement and shape the next generation of processes, tools, and analytical approaches.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or a related field.
- Completed, or progressing towards, a professional actuarial qualification (e.g., FIAA).
- 2 to 8 years of professional experience in an actuarial and/or data analytics role.
- Experience with coding, programming, and AI/GenAI is highly valued.
- Proven actuarial, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong quantitative abilities.
- Proficiency with actuarial software and techniques using Excel, SAS, R, and Python.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for building and maintaining client relationships.
- Ability to present complex information clearly to non-specialists.
- Relevant understanding of government policy in a related sector and/or actuarial insurance experience is preferable.
- Ability to manage projects, develop new business opportunities, and mentor junior staff.
- Demonstrates initiative, a can-do attitude, and proactiveness in trying new approaches.
- Comfortable with complexity and flexible in a dynamic, technology-driven environment.
- Commitment to staying up to date with market trends, legislation, and regulatory changes, and contributing to business thought leadership.
