About the Role
The Retail Products Assurance Manager provides independent first-line assurance across the Retail Products Portfolio, ensuring customer, regulatory, operational, and risk obligations are effectively managed. This role leads assurance reviews, identifies control weaknesses and risks, and supports better customer outcomes and stronger risk management. It also assists with assurance activities for the PACT program, SCFE transformation, and Suncorp Integration Program.
Responsibilities
- Provide assurance support in change initiatives to ensure appropriate levels of change governance are adhered to.
- Assess the design and effectiveness of controls and identify control gaps, emerging risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Ensure assurance activities are completed to agreed quality standards and within required timeframes.
- Produce clear, evidence-based findings and practical recommendations.
- Provide independent challenge to the effectiveness of risk management practices and control environments.
- Identify thematic issues, root causes, and systemic risks impacting Retail Products.
- Monitor management actions and ensure issues are remediated effectively.
- Support uplift activities to strengthen operational resilience, conduct, compliance, and customer outcomes.
- Build trusted relationships with key business, Risk, Compliance, and Assurance stakeholders.
- Prepare/support inputs into high-quality assurance reports, management summaries, and executive insights.
- Support governance forums as required through insights, risk assessments, and assurance updates.
- Partner closely with Retail Products Portfolio Governance activities as required.
Requirements
- Relevant experience providing operational risk, compliance, and assurance expertise.
- Strong understanding and application of the change governance requirements (e.g., Product Management Policy).
- Retail Products and Value-Chain knowledge highly preferred.
- Experience working in a highly regulated, closely oversighted business.
- Experience developing and managing excellent stakeholder relationships.
- Ability to analyze complex information and identify key risks and themes.
- Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving capability.
- Experience using data to support assurance conclusions and recommendations.
- High level of comfort working with ambiguity and defining a way forward.
- Knowledge of APRA, ASIC, and consumer protection regulatory requirements.
- Positive mind-set when it comes to navigating constant change.
