About the Role

As a Principal Data Engineer with expertise in data engineering, you’ll work at the forefront of regulatory reporting technology, delivering critical solutions that support regulatory compliance and the Bank’s global ambitions. If you’re motivated by scale, complexity, and purpose this role is built for you. Here, you’ll be part of a team of engineers going above and beyond to improve the standard of digital banking using the latest technology to solve the Banks and customers complex data-centric problems.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the team to understand our customers' core business objectives and deliver quality data centric solutions within committed timeframes.
  • Contribute to thought leadership enabling analytics teams to deliver world class data centric solutions and analytics by championing sustainable and re-useable data assets.
  • Design and build group data assets by integrating diverse data from internal and external sources.
  • Help to promote best in class coding standards and practices to ensure high quality and minimum risk.
  • Collaborate and communicate with business and delivery stakeholders and work without supervision.
  • Identify and escalate Technical Debt through simple processes to support effective planning and risk management.
  • Build solutions that are fit for purpose, perform well with large data volume and complex data transformation rules, and reliable to operate.
  • Understand the development and release cycle following Change Management processes.
  • Continuously improve the data products with best engineering solutions.
  • Strategize, Design and Implement (hands on) highly reliable and scalable data pipelines and data platforms with comprehensive test coverage on AWS Cloud.
  • Build and implement data pipelines in distributed data platforms including warehouses, databases, data lakes and cloud Lake houses to enable data predictions and models, and reporting and visualization analysis via data integration tools and frameworks.

Requirements

  • Prior experience working in Financial Services industry would be essential.
  • Can work with distributed teams and building high performing teams.
  • Successfully advocated for new technology approaches, with the experience to understand the architectural integration of new software solutions.
  • Create a culture focused on accelerating the adoption of new and emerging technologies.
  • Show a high level of emotional intelligence when leading teams and influencing business leaders.
  • Can influence the future of the company’s technology estate every day.
  • Strong experience in relevant field.
  • Expert in ETL framework design and build for cloud native technologies like AWS, Snowflake and so on.
  • Prior experience in design & building data platform for cloud native cloud native technologies like AWS, Snowflake and so on.
  • Prior experience in design & building financial reporting data products would be highly regarded.
  • RDBMS Experience on any prominent Database is required with strong SQL expertise.
