About the Role

A Simulated Patient (SP) Actor provides support for medical students to learn and be assessed in a safe and controlled environment. The SP is required to learn a complex script and perform the role accurately and consistently for multiple students, replicating aspects of real-life situations.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in simulated clinical assessments in the BMed-MD program.
  • Support the delivery of experiences in schools, on campus or online.
  • Follow instructions from the relevant School, script, and Exam Supervisors.
  • Learn the script provided to play the patient role consistently for fair and objective assessment.
  • Use judgement to solve standard problems using learned methods, procedures, and experience.
  • Actively participate in on the job training for relevant duties.
  • Align with and demonstrate the UNSW Values in Action, behaviours, and Code of Conduct.
  • Cooperate with health and safety policies and procedures and ensure actions do not impact health and safety of self or others.

Requirements

  • Capacity to memorise and perform a role accurately and consistently for prolonged periods is essential.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives, and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Pre-employment checks may include criminal history, entitlement to work, Working With Children, Gender-Based Violence Prevention Declaration, qualification verification, professional membership verification, employment history and reference checks, financial responsibility assessments, and medical checks.
