About the Role
The Daily Telegraph seeks a Digital Editor to lead digital journalism presentation and distribution in a competitive news environment. This leadership role guides producers, drives digital performance, and ensures content engages audiences across all digital channels. The position requires a strong understanding of digital news publishing, audience behavior, and the needs of a NSW audience, focusing on timely, compelling, and high-performing content.
Responsibilities
- Lead on-platform and off-platform producers across The Daily Telegraph’s digital news operation
- Oversee the presentation, placement and distribution of content across the masthead’s digital channels
- Drive digital publishing decisions that maximise audience reach, engagement and subscriber value
- Ensure content is tailored to the needs and interests of a NSW audience
- Work closely with newsroom leaders, editors and reporters to identify priority stories and digital opportunities
- Optimise headlines, story packaging, homepages, article promotion and channel distribution
- Maintain a strong focus on breaking news, live coverage and major audience moments
- Use audience data, performance insights and editorial judgement to inform publishing strategy
- Ensure a consistent, high-quality user experience across digital touchpoints
- Lead and develop a team of producers in a fast-moving, deadline-driven environment
Requirements
- At least five years’ experience managing content on news websites
- Strong experience in digital news production, publishing and audience-focused content strategy
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage digital workflows in a breaking news environment
- Strong understanding of NSW news, issues and audience interests
- Excellent news judgement and a strong instinct for digital story presentation and promotion
- Experience using analytics and performance data to improve content outcomes
- Strong communication, collaboration and organisational skills
- Ability to work calmly and decisively under pressure
