About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Security Operations (SecOps) Engineer to join our Cyber Security team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining and optimising security technologies that support the detection, prevention and response to cyber threats across customer environments. Working closely with Security Operations Centre (SOC) analysts, infrastructure teams and customers, you will enhance security capabilities through engineering, automation and continuous improvement, ensuring secure, resilient and high-performing ICT environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, configure and maintain enterprise security technologies, including SIEM, EDR/XDR, SOAR, firewalls, identity security and cloud security platforms.
  • Develop and optimise security monitoring capabilities through the creation of detection rules, correlation logic, dashboards and automated response workflows.
  • Engineer and maintain security integrations between platforms to improve visibility, incident response and operational efficiency.
  • Support the investigation and resolution of complex cyber security incidents by providing technical expertise and engineering support to SOC and Incident Response teams.
  • Implement and maintain security hardening, logging, monitoring and audit controls across on-premises, cloud and hybrid ICT environments.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts and orchestration workflows to improve security operations and reduce manual effort.
  • Perform platform upgrades, patching, configuration management and lifecycle maintenance for security technologies.
  • Assess emerging threats, vulnerabilities and security technologies, recommending enhancements to strengthen customer security posture.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation, architecture artefacts, operational procedures and engineering standards.
  • Collaborate with customers and internal stakeholders to design, implement and continuously improve security capabilities in line with organisational and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Australian citizen (required for Defence projects) with a min AGSVA NV1 clearance.
  • The ability to obtain a Negative Vetting 2 (NV2) security clearance is preferred.
  • 5+ years' experience in Cyber Security Engineering, Security Operations, Infrastructure Security or a related technical role, with experience designing and supporting enterprise security solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems, networking, cloud platforms (Azure and/or AWS), identity and access management, scripting (PowerShell or Python), and security engineering best practices.
  • Communicates clearly and confidently, both written and verbal.
  • Adapts easily to change and works well in a team environment.
