About the Role

The Clinical Research Coordinator, Level 2 (CRC2) is a specialized, independent research professional who ensures oversight and compliance of system-wide SHC clinical research activities for the Retrospective Core. This position supports investigators in protocol development, implementation, data collection, and reporting, ensuring adherence to ethical standards and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Maintains knowledge of clinical research regulatory requirements and the complex clinical research process.
• Supports investigators in developing and implementing SHC investigator-initiated research protocols.
• Ensures studies comply with approved protocols, GCP guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
• Tracks study, investigator, and IRB information, collaborating with relevant departments on reviews, submissions, and compliance.
• Coordinates data collection and management throughout clinical studies, evaluating protocol feasibility.
• Develops procedures to standardize data collection, management, and safeguarding.
• Ensures timely and accurate data collection and entry into secure research databases.
• Verifies data accuracy through quality control measures and addresses data discrepancies.
• Participates in data cleaning and database lock procedures.
• Compiles, analyzes, and prepares study results, assisting with abstract and manuscript preparation.
• Demonstrates knowledge of ethical standards (Belmont Report, Nuremberg Code, ICH GCP).
• Protects human subjects by adhering to ethical and safety practices.
• Maintains education in human subject protection and GCP principles.
• Understands ethical issues with vulnerable pediatric populations and implements safeguards.
• Reports concerns or issues to appropriate departments.
• Safeguards participants, maintains patient privacy, and mitigates risk.
• Confirms appropriate training for study protocols.
• Facilitates Retrospective Core projects through collaborative communication and teamwork.
• Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with all involved in clinical research operations.
• Fosters teamwork by respecting and valuing contributions.
• Works effectively with SHC leadership to uphold the research mission.
• Maintains scientific integrity, intellectual honesty, and excellence.
• Demonstrates interpersonal and professional skills, including appearance, tact, planning, punctuality, and dependability.
• Provides expertise consultation and mentorship to site staff, residents, students, and volunteers.
• Interacts with other departments professionally to facilitate research coordination.

Requirements

• 3 years of Clinical research experience, e.g. experience with site management, study management, IRBs, and federal regulations regarding clinical research compliance
• Bachelor's Degree in clinical research, science or other healthcare related field - or 5 years of specific job-related experience in the administration of clinical research
