About the Role
The Communications Manager is responsible for developing and executing Smile Trust's communications strategy to increase public awareness, strengthen community relationships, attract donors and volunteers, and highlight the organization's impact. This role oversees content creation, media relations, digital marketing, branding, storytelling, and event communications while ensuring a consistent voice across all platforms.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement an annual communications and marketing strategy.
- Maintain and strengthen Smile Trust's brand identity across all channels.
- Create messaging that reflects the organization's mission, vision, and values.
- Collaborate with leadership to communicate organizational priorities and initiatives.
- Write compelling stories highlighting community impact.
- Develop newsletters, annual reports, fact sheets, brochures, and donor communications.
- Create press releases.
- Produce engaging content for email campaigns, and social media.
- Manage all organizational social media platforms.
- Develop monthly content calendars.
- Increase engagement through videos, graphics, photography, and storytelling.
- Monitor analytics and optimize content performance.
- Coordinate digital fundraising and awareness campaigns.
- Build relationships with local, regional, and national media.
- Coordinate interviews and press conferences.
- Respond to media inquiries.
- Secure earned media opportunities to increase organizational visibility.
- Develop promotional materials for community events and campaigns.
- Coordinate event branding, signage, photography, and videography.
- Manage communications before, during, and after organizational events.
- Support volunteer recruitment and event promotion.
- Promote volunteer opportunities.
- Highlight community partnerships and collaborations.
- Strengthen relationships with stakeholders, sponsors, and community organizations.
- Support outreach campaigns across Miami-Dade County and beyond.
- Maintain brand standards across all materials.
- Ensure consistent messaging and visual identity.
- Oversee design and production of marketing materials.
- Track key communications metrics including email performance, social media engagement, media coverage, and campaign performance.
- Prepare monthly communications reports with recommendations for improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Three or more years of experience in communications, marketing, or public relations.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong storytelling and copywriting abilities.
- Experience managing social media platforms and digital campaigns.
- Knowledge of nonprofit communications and community engagement.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
- Experience in nonprofit organizations.
- Photography and videography skills.
- Graphic design experience using Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
- Email marketing experience (Mailchimp).
- Knowledge of SEO and Google Analytics.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Haitian Creole) is a plus.
