About the Role

Play a key role in improving safety and compliance across Australia’s heavy vehicle industry by delivering regulatory services, investigating vehicle monitoring incidents, and undertaking compliance and enforcement activities.

Responsibilities

  • Review incidents detected through heavy vehicle monitoring systems, following policies and procedures for Victorian ‘No Truck Zone ‘regulatory services.
  • Liaise with staff and stakeholders in other jurisdictions to establish operating practices for ‘No Truck Zones’ operators.
  • Undertake investigations into suspected offences detected through heavy vehicle monitoring systems and take enforcement action.
  • Use sound judgement to exercise powers as an Authorised Officer under the HVNL, including issuing directions, infringement notices, and applying compliance sanctions.
  • Maintain the integrity and accuracy of databases and records, and retrieve and archive information as required.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to undertake investigations in a regulatory environment.
  • Ability to prepare briefs of evidence and apply appropriate sanctions.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills with an eye for detail.
  • Proven ability to analyse information.
  • Demonstrated ability to show initiative, tact, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to determine work priorities and meet strict deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to represent the NHVR in legal proceedings.
  • Hold a current motor vehicle driver licence.
  • Flexibility to work outside normal hours and travel when required.
  • Experience in a similar role is highly regarded.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the HVNL is highly regarded.
  • Working knowledge of the heavy vehicle industry is highly regarded.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the HVNL is desirable though not mandatory.

Salary/Compensations

  • Competitive salary package from $122,582.50 + superannuation
