About the Role
Lead risk with influence and enable better outcomes by shaping the future of advice and financial services. This role provides independent Line 2 risk oversight across Advice businesses, Finance, Fund Administration & Operations, and Enterprise Services, partnering with senior executives to foster a strong risk and compliance culture.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach and develop a high-performing team of Risk professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Provide independent Line 2 oversight and constructive challenge across Advice, Actuate (intrafund advice), Finance, Fund Administration & Operations and Enterprise Services.
- Partner with business leaders to deliver practical, commercial risk advice aligned to the Group's Risk Management Framework.
- Oversee key risk management activities, including business planning, regulatory obligations, compliance plans, change initiatives, control assurance, incident and breach management, risk assessments and attestations.
- Coordinate and prioritise team deliverables, ensuring high-quality, timely outcomes across a diverse portfolio.
- Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across the organisation, influencing decision-making and promoting proactive risk management.
- Work closely with the broader Risk Leadership team to deliver consistent, enterprise-wide risk outcomes and support strategic initiatives.
- Contribute to Executive, Board and Committee reporting, presenting clear insights on key risks, emerging issues and risk performance.
- Represent Risk Management at governance forums and support regulatory engagement and industry consultation where required.
- Champion a strong risk culture that balances customer outcomes, regulatory expectations and commercial objectives.
Requirements
- Proven experience leading high-performing Operational Risk or Compliance teams within financial services.
- Strong knowledge of operational risk management frameworks, governance practices and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Experience supporting Advice, Wealth Management, Financial Services or customer-facing business functions will be highly regarded.
- Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships and influence senior executives through credible advice and constructive challenge.
- Strong understanding of the Australian financial services regulatory landscape and emerging industry risks.
- Experience operating within large, complex organisations undergoing transformation or significant change.
- A collaborative leadership style with a passion for coaching, developing talent and building capability.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience preparing and presenting reports to Executive and Board-level governance forums.
