About the Role
This role provides technical, research, and report-writing support to financial planners, focusing on creating clear, accurate, and compliant client recommendations. It involves owning the research, analysis, and suitability documentation, as well as managing case administration for smooth implementation and audit-ready client files. This is a non-advising position centered on quality, compliance, and client care.
Responsibilities
- Prepare clear, accurate, and compliant suitability reports and recommendation letters tailored to client circumstances.
- Ensure all documentation meets FCA requirements, Consumer Duty expectations, and internal standards.
- Maintain and improve report templates, wording, and house style.
- Research products, funds, wrappers, and providers across pensions, investments, protection, and tax planning.
- Analyze existing client arrangements and produce comparisons, cost analyses, and switching/consolidation assessments.
- Provide technical insight and commentary to advisers to support client recommendations.
- Build cashflow models and scenario analyses for retirement, income, and estate-planning discussions.
- Prepare pre-meeting packs, valuations, and supporting analysis for client reviews.
- Ensure recommendations are suitable, evidenced, and aligned with regulatory and internal standards.
- Keep up-to-date with regulatory, product, and tax developments.
- Process new business, submit applications, and track cases to completion.
- Liaise with product providers and platforms to obtain information and resolve queries.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records on the back-office system.
- Support advisers with client correspondence, review scheduling, and general servicing tasks.
- Collaborate with advisers, administrators, and compliance for a smooth client experience.
- Contribute to process improvements and template development.
- Mentor junior or administrative colleagues where appropriate.
Requirements
- Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning, or substantial progress towards it.
- Previous paraplanning or strong financial planning administration experience within a UK regulated advice firm.
- Sound technical knowledge of pensions, investments, protection, and tax planning.
- Excellent written communication and report-writing skills with strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, back-office systems, and financial planning/cashflow software.
- Well organized, able to manage a caseload and balance report writing with case administration to deadlines.
- Working towards, or holding, Chartered or advanced qualifications.
- Experience with platforms and back-office systems such as Intelligent Office.
- Experience with cashflow tools such as Voyant or CashCalc.
- Exposure to Consumer Duty implementation and file-review/suitability processes.
