About the Role

coera's guardrails run where robots run, requiring a certifiable real-time operating system. QNX OS for Safety and QNX Hypervisor for Safety are industry standards for safety-certified real-time systems in autonomous vehicles, robotic agents, and medical devices. This role involves end-to-end ownership of coera's runtime, from kernel-level integration to partitioned workloads on a single SoC, culminating in a certified release.

Responsibilities

  • Own coera's runtime on RTOS for Safety, end-to-end.
  • Architect mixed-criticality partitioning using QNX Hypervisor for Safety to enable parallel workload execution on one SoC without compromising safety.
  • Bring up and maintain board support packages on coera's target SoCs.
  • Design real-time-critical paths, including scheduling, IPC, deterministic memory management, and latency budgets.

Requirements

  • Expert C and modern C++ (C++14+) with MISRA C / MISRA C++ / AUTOSAR C++14 discipline.
  • Deep working knowledge of QNX OS for Safety and QNX Hypervisor for Safety, including microkernel message-passing, resource managers, adaptive partitioning, and POSIX conformance.
  • BSP or device-driver experience on at least one automotive or robotics-grade SoC family (e.g., ARMv8-A / ARMv9-A) at the register, MMU, and IPC level.
  • Functional safety literacy anchored in IEC 61508 and EU Machinery Regulation 2023/1230.
  • Fluency in V-model, Automotive SPICE, or IEC 61508 Part 3 processes.

About the Company

  • coera is building the universal safety intelligence layer for human-robot coexistence, redefining safety in the age of physical AI.
  • Robotics is advancing faster than its supporting safety systems; coera bridges this gap with multimodal sensing and deterministic guardrails that are retrofittable, embeddable, and controller-agnostic.
  • Safety is viewed as a capability enabling intelligent machines to operate freely alongside people, not merely a constraint.

Equal Opportunity

  • Hiring is based on the strength of work, without discrimination based on ethnic origin, gender, religion or belief, disability, age, sexual identity, or any other factor unrelated to the job.
  • Applications from people with disabilities are explicitly welcomed and given equal consideration.
