About the Role
Transport for London (TfL) is seeking an ATC Train System Maintainer to investigate and rectify failures in Central Line Automatic Train Control (ATC) systems, perform preventative maintenance, and ensure the availability of rolling stock for passenger service.
Responsibilities
- Investigate irregularities in Central Line Automatic Train Control (ATC) trainborne systems and equipment.
- Identify and rectify failures to determine faulty equipment needing removal for repair.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance of ATC systems and modifications.
- Ensure an adequate supply of Central line Rolling Stock is available for passenger service.
- Perform preventative maintenance and casualty repairs on Automatic Train Control (ATC) Systems.
- Ensure the system provides an acceptable level of reliability.
- Conduct planned maintenance on the ATC part of the Fleet to manufacturer’s specification.
- Carry out casualty work as required, involving various night/day shift patterns on a rolling 8-week roster.
- Promote an integrated approach to the maintenance of Automatic Train Control (ATC) systems, treating trackside and train-based elements as components of an overall system.
- Contribute to the creation, introduction, and use of fault-finding procedures.
- Manage the analysis of data to take correct action and make decisions affecting ATC equipment reliability.
- Oversee the definition, introduction, maintenance, and use of relevant approvals and safety assurance procedures for ATC hardware/software changes.
- Ensure complete and accurate records are created and maintained for train-related maintenance first and second line testing activities.
- Identify control system technologies and modifications for improved efficiency.
- Ensure sufficient engineering focus on asset maintenance delivery.
- Identify relevant test equipment and support technical development.
- Contribute to the development of a Quality Management System suitable for accreditation to ISO 9002:2000.
Requirements
- Electrical, electronic, and mechanical skills relevant to an engineering maintenance environment.
- Relevant engineering experience (Rolling stock, Aviation).
- A self-starter capable of working on their own initiative.
- Able to understand maintenance instructions and procedures.
- Ability to be flexible and supportive to ensure team success.
- Good record keeping.
- Ability to work as part of a highly focused team.
- Able to manage time and work to tight timescales.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Demonstrable experience of fault diagnosis and maintenance of electrical/electronic systems.
- Must hold or be able to gain I.R.S.E. licences as required.
- Must hold a Safety critical licence.
- Candidates must be able to demonstrate their right to work in the UK.
