About the Role
We are looking for a highly technical, business-oriented Director, Virtual Care Technology Applications to help lead the strategy, modernization, and evolution of our Virtual Care program within Pharmacy and Healthcare Technology. This role will look across the end-to-end Virtual Care ecosystem, including the current solution, business capabilities, technology architecture, operational dependencies, provider experience, integrations, vendor landscape, and future growth opportunities. This role will bring thoughtful leadership to ensure the solution evolves into a long-term, scalable, resilient, and strategically aligned healthcare platform.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and technical leadership across the end-to-end Virtual Care program.
- Assess the current Virtual Care solution focused on the provider experience, including its strengths, weaknesses, risks, dependencies, scalability, stability, and long-term viability.
- Develop a strong understanding of the business, product, operational, and technology landscape supporting Virtual Care.
- Partner with business, digital, product, operations, architecture, engineering, security, infrastructure, and vendor teams to shape and evolve the Virtual Care roadmap.
- Bring forward innovative ideas, solution options, and strategic recommendations that help improve provider experience and efficiency while supporting long-term business objectives.
- Influence key decisions by clearly outlining business value, technical feasibility, risk, cost, complexity, timelines, and long-term sustainability.
- Guide technology choices, application design, architecture direction, and modernization opportunities.
- Ensure Virtual Care solutions align with enterprise architecture standards, technology strategy, security expectations, privacy requirements, and healthcare technology objectives.
- Work with delivery teams to remove blockers, improve execution velocity, and ensure initiatives remain aligned to roadmap priorities.
- Partner with operations teams to improve application stability, resiliency, supportability, monitoring, incident response, and production performance.
- Provide guidance to engineering and delivery teams to ensure solutions are scalable, secure, maintainable, reliable, and designed for future growth.
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear business language for senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Prepare and present recommendations, decision points, roadmap options, risks, and trade-offs to support informed decision-making.
- Collaborate across a matrixed environment and build alignment between business needs, digital priorities, technical strategy, and operational realities.
- Support investment planning, vendor discussions, technology evaluations, and business cases related to the Virtual Care platform.
- Help ensure technology investments deliver meaningful value to patients, pharmacy teams, healthcare professionals, and the broader organization.
Requirements
- An undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Significant experience in technology leadership, enterprise consulting, solution architecture, application development, or a related field, ideally within healthcare, pharmacy, digital health, or another regulated environment.
- Proven ability to serve as a senior technology advisor or solution leader in complex, matrixed enterprise environments.
- Strong understanding of end-to-end technology ecosystems, including applications, integrations, infrastructure, cloud, data, security, operations, vendors, and user experience.
- Experience assessing current-state environments and developing practical future-state roadmaps, modernization strategies, architectural proposals, and business cases.
- Strong knowledge of modern architecture and development practices, including cloud platforms, microservices, APIs, distributed systems, enterprise integration, and legacy modernization.
- Ability to evaluate technology options and recommend solutions that balance business value, technical complexity, cost, risk, sustainability, and total cost of ownership.
- Experience guiding application modernization, platform stabilization, technology consolidation, cloud transformation, vendor evaluation, platform selection, and technology investment planning.
- Proven ability to influence decisions and build alignment across business, technology, operations, vendors, executives, and cross-functional delivery teams.
- Strong communication, facilitation, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Candidates who are 18 years or older are required to complete a criminal background check.
