About the Role

Henry Ford Behavioral Health Hospital is seeking a Patient Account Representative to join their Business Office team. This role is vital in ensuring timely reimbursement and efficient revenue cycle operations, supporting quality patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Call and status outstanding claims with third party payors.
  • Review claims issues, make corrections, and rebill.
  • Utilize claims clearing house to review, correct, and resubmit claims electronically.
  • Review explanation of benefits to ensure correct claim processing and payment.
  • Complete adjustment forms with supporting documentation for account adjustments.
  • Manage daily productivity, aiming for a minimum of 30-40 accounts worked per day.
  • Prorate patient accounts and ensure correct financial class for balances due.
  • Report weekly overviews to the BOD and participate in AR meetings.
  • Gather and interpret system data to determine and initiate strategic steps for payment.
  • Assist financial counselors as needed.
  • Alert Financial Counselors and Business Office Director of benefit eligibility matters impacting reimbursement.

Requirements

  • Medical billing and collections experience in a hospital setting required.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance claims processing, accounts receivable management, and reimbursement practices.
  • Experience working with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance payers preferred.
  • Proficiency in healthcare billing systems and electronic claims processing.
  • Psychiatric experience preferred.
