About the Role

The Business Solutions Manager improves operational processes and supports critical business strategies by managing the development, implementation, and maintenance of application systems. This role leads multiple projects, oversees developers, and provides input to strategic decisions affecting functional areas. The manager may also contribute to budget development and resolve escalated operational issues requiring cross-departmental coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain a regional IT strategy supporting plans based on Global IT strategy and needs.
  • Identify and help solve problems affecting business solutions and work closely with Global/local IT peers and business stakeholders to analyze business systems and make recommendations for technical and process improvements.
  • Work on harmonization of local business processes, aligning with Global business processes.
  • Manage IT staff (onsite, remote, in-house, and third-party outsourced teams) and drive both project implementation and daily IT operational support management.
  • Collaborate and work closely with the business teams and extended IT teams both globally and regionally (systems analysts, solution architects, developers, security SMEs) to transform business requirements into scalable system solutions.
  • Respond quickly to shifting market dynamics and business demands, and when appropriate, work with key leadership to mitigate project or operational risks or to prioritize projects.
  • Act as the Japan IT Business Partner to serve as single point of escalation for strategic and critical tactical issues raised by the local and global stakeholders.
  • Liaise between Japan, the rest of Asia, and global headquarters to exchange best practices, learn about global trends, and propose new services or features to different functions that could help achieve Japan’s business goals.

Requirements

  • University degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Marketing Management or similar.
  • At least 10 years of experience executing IT projects, especially those involving back-office systems such as EDI, ERP, WMS and holding positions in staff management.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in technology development and deployment projects.
  • 5+ years managerial experience in IT.
  • Regional or multicultural management experiences (preferred).
  • Able to lead back-office project(s) independently.
  • Experience in sports industry is a plus.

Skills

  • Solid Project coordination with hands-on experience in rolling out projects for internal stakeholders.
  • Effectively communicates with and guides business users by providing functional knowledge of back-office systems including EDI, ERP and WMS system.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to balance need for agility and speed of execution with governance and risk management.
  • Able to manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to bridge gap between IT teams and business Users.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, including the ability to lead, motivate, prioritize and support team members.
  • Fluent in Japanese and English, with Japanese nationality or JLPT N2 certification or higher.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in management administration such as staff management, budget control and vendor contract management.
  • Solid interpersonal, networking and negotiating skills in a global environment.
