About the Role
We are a deeptech startup at the intersection of AI, robotics, and materials science, focused on accelerating energy innovation. Our Berlin-based team seeks a Culture and Community Manager to design and implement our team culture from the ground up. This high-agency role requires building relationships, identifying issues proactively, and fostering a connected and energizing work environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute weekly rituals, team socials, monthly activities, celebrations, and quarterly offsites.
- Enhance all-hands and collective meetings to be more energetic, interactive, and participatory.
- Build trusted relationships across the company and maintain a pulse on team sentiment, responding proactively to disengagement.
- Review team updates to identify recurring themes, tone changes, or unmet needs, and implement solutions.
- Source and engage candidates via LinkedIn, communities, referrals, and other channels, screening for motivation, values, and cultural contribution.
- Support interview coordination and ensure a positive candidate experience.
- Manage lightweight people-operations, including onboarding, trackers, follow-ups, and internal documentation.
- Take ownership of and solve practical, people-facing problems without established playbooks.
- Coordinate effectively with founders, employees, vendors, and external partners.
Requirements
- Experience in community management, people operations, employee experience, recruiting, events, hospitality, startup ops, or a related field.
- Proven ability to design, plan, and execute team events, including logistics, vendor management, scheduling, and budgeting.
- Experience sourcing and screening candidates and coordinating interview processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate values into behaviors and provide practical feedback on team sentiment.
- Strong organizational skills, including maintaining trackers, documentation, and follow-up systems.
- High emotional intelligence, with skills in sensitive conversations, rallying participants, and building trust across diverse technical teams.
- Startup mindset: high agency, low ego, comfort with ambiguity, and willingness to perform varied tasks.
