Responsibilities

  • Promote a safe, cooperative, and professional healthcare environment.
  • Manage, plan, organize, and evaluate laboratory operations, including testing, LIS, customer service, scheduling, safety, and budget tracking.
  • Follow standard precautions, laboratory safety, and infection control protocols.
  • Assist in staff hiring, training, and performance appraisals.
  • Participate in performance improvement processes and interact with regulatory agencies.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate operations and procedures to achieve strategic goals.
  • Manage site operations, monitor operating expenses, and participate in system maintenance and upgrades.
  • Supervise test performance, monitor laboratory processes, and ensure analytic performance levels are maintained.
  • Assure remedial actions are taken when test systems deviate from performance specifications.
  • Verify staff training and competency, and ensure continuing education requirements are met.

Requirements

  • Minimum of four years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
  • At least one year of experience in a laboratory supervisory role.
  • Proficiency in Chemistry and Hematology is advantageous.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to maintain a positive team environment.

Experience Level

  • Minimum of four years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting
  • At least one year in a laboratory supervisory role

Education Level

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in science (Chemical, Physical, Biological, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology) from an approved program.
  • Certified as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist by the New York State Education Department.
