Responsibilities
- Promote a safe, cooperative, and professional healthcare environment.
- Manage, plan, organize, and evaluate laboratory operations, including testing, LIS, customer service, scheduling, safety, and budget tracking.
- Follow standard precautions, laboratory safety, and infection control protocols.
- Assist in staff hiring, training, and performance appraisals.
- Participate in performance improvement processes and interact with regulatory agencies.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate operations and procedures to achieve strategic goals.
- Manage site operations, monitor operating expenses, and participate in system maintenance and upgrades.
- Supervise test performance, monitor laboratory processes, and ensure analytic performance levels are maintained.
- Assure remedial actions are taken when test systems deviate from performance specifications.
- Verify staff training and competency, and ensure continuing education requirements are met.
Requirements
- Minimum of four years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
- At least one year of experience in a laboratory supervisory role.
- Proficiency in Chemistry and Hematology is advantageous.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Ability to maintain a positive team environment.
Experience Level
- Minimum of four years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting
- At least one year in a laboratory supervisory role
Education Level
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in science (Chemical, Physical, Biological, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology) from an approved program.
- Certified as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist by the New York State Education Department.
