About the Role
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems within the sawmill. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on electrical/electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and components.
- Apply knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical principles to diagnose equipment malfunctions and restore equipment to proper operation.
- Provide skilled maintenance support across all manufacturing areas, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency.
- Troubleshoot and repair a wide range of equipment, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), drives, gauges, power supplies, and test equipment.
- Assist in the installation, modification, and upgrade of machinery and support systems.
- Document maintenance activities and communicate effectively with operations staff to ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner.
- Follow all company safety protocols and maintain a safe, organized work environment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the needs of the sawmill.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in electrical, welding, or mechanical work strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, industrial/manufacturing environment.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to quickly identify and resolve issues.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team, including strong communication with operators and supervisors.
- Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. and working in varying environmental conditions.
- Willing to train on 1st shift, but this will be a 2nd shift role.
