About the Role
The Multi-Site Director oversees the daily operations of assigned school-based sites, ensuring programs run smoothly, supporting teachers, and building strong relationships with school staff. This role requires an organized, dependable individual who is energized by working closely with children and families.
Responsibilities
- Actively recruit to maintain a pipeline of qualified site-level candidates.
- Interview, hire, and onboard teachers and Site Directors across locations.
- Build daily and weekly staff schedules and manage coverage proactively.
- Maintain a reliable substitute list and fill gaps before they affect the program.
- Visit sites regularly to observe program quality and compliance, and coach staff.
- Address performance issues directly and document appropriately.
- Foster a positive, mission-driven team culture across sites.
- Schedule staff to ratio, ensuring compliance and budget responsibility.
- Review and approve timecards accurately and on time.
- Monitor payroll costs against budget and take corrective action.
- Build schedules with efficiency in mind, minimizing overtime and maximizing coverage.
- Communicate schedule changes proactively and keep staff informed.
- Use HKP’s payroll and scheduling platforms accurately and consistently.
- Monitor enrollment at each site and flag concerns early.
- Ensure teachers engage children effectively and use HKP materials consistently.
- Support families with questions, concerns, and registration.
- Track re-enrollment as a quality signal and follow up with families.
- Participate in enrollment events and community outreach.
- Report enrollment and quality observations to your Area Director or Regional Director regularly.
- Ensure every site maintains active state licensing at all times.
- Conduct regular compliance checks: ratios, attendance records, staff credentials, health and safety protocols.
- Ensure all staff have completed required training and certifications stay current.
- Respond promptly to licensing inquiries or corrective actions and escalate as needed.
- Keep staff informed of day-to-day compliance expectations.
- Maintain organized, accurate site files.
- Serve as HKP’s primary day-to-day contact with school building leadership.
- Build strong, proactive relationships with each building’s leadership.
- Address building-level concerns and complaints quickly and resolve issues at the lowest level.
- Coordinate with school staff on logistics, space use, schedules, and building-specific requirements.
- Keep principals informed on program news, staff changes, enrollment updates, and operational issues.
- Escalate district-level concerns or relationship matters to your Area Director or Regional Director.
Requirements
- Associate degree in Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation, or related field plus 2 years of experience working with children under 13, including at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
- Two years of college with 18 credits in a related field plus 2 years of experience working with children under 13, including at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
- NY State Children’s Program Administrator Credential plus 2 years of relevant experience.
- School-Age Child Care Credential or equivalent office-recognized credential plus 2 years of relevant experience.
- Some experience managing or mentoring staff.
- Comfortable with scheduling, logistics, and managing daily operational coverage across multiple locations.
- Experience working directly with school building staff is a plus.
- Familiarity with state childcare or school-age licensing requirements is a plus.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Dependable, hands-on leader who shows up, follows through, and takes ownership.
- Natural with kids and families — warm, patient, and professional.
- Comfortable giving feedback and having direct conversations with staff.
- Self-starter who manages multiple sites without needing constant direction.
- Must pass a full background check including fingerprinting and reference checks.
