About the Role
PJT Partners is a global advisory-focused investment bank. Our Restructuring and Special Situations Group (RSSG) advises companies, financial sponsors, and creditor groups in distressed situations. The New Business Research Analyst (NBRA) will support new business development and research distressed company situations to identify and source potential new business opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Support all aspects of new business development and research and analysis of distressed company situations to identify and source potential new business opportunities.
- Screen and identify companies/industries at risk of increased defaults.
- Present research and analysis to RSSG leadership to support new business development efforts.
- Perform financial modeling to analyze company cash flows and sector/industry analysis and research.
- Prepare company and industry/sector presentations for internal and external use.
- Participate in business development efforts and meetings with hedge funds, private equity funds, and law firms.
- Assist RSSG deal teams with research and market data requests.
- Maintain internal databases and market statistics for marketing materials and presentations.
- Work with RSSG leadership on financial budget forecasting, quarterly reporting, and internal projects for management and board presentations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with 1-3 years of financial services experience.
- Knowledge of the high-yield/distressed/leverage loan market, restructuring, and credit markets.
- Ability to build basic cash flow financial models and develop presentations.
- Hands-on experience using generative AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.) to support research and workflow efficiency.
- A self-starter with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong work ethic and results-oriented mentality.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and handle multiple projects.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
