About the Role

The Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP) seeks to counsel university faculty and research staff in contractual matters related to sponsored activity and research proposals. OSP assists faculty and staff with proposal review, authorization, submission, award negotiations, account management, close-out, reporting, audits, collections, professional development, education, export control, and research compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Review and submit proposals prepared by faculty, research personnel, and Principal Investigators to sponsoring agencies.
  • Exercise sound decision-making and problem-solving skills to review proposals for compliance with fiscal and administrative policies.
  • Coordinate the review and final approval process for proposals before submission.
  • Interpret university administrative procedures for sponsored research and apply relevant regulations.
  • Consult with faculty and staff on proposal submission processes for prospective sponsoring agencies.
  • Respond to and resolve sponsor requests for information and assistance, including Just-In-Time information or revised budgets.
  • Perform related duties as required.
  • Accept assignments on special projects, potentially involving oversight of high-visibility projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or public administration, social sciences, or a technical/scientific field.
  • At least five years of experience in the preparation, processing, and/or negotiation of research grants and/or contract proposals.
  • Experience working with Electronic Research Administration (eRA).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, local, and university sponsored project guidelines and regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with deadlines and under pressure, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet overlapping deadlines.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
