About the Role

Play a key role in the Delegated Authority Centre of Excellence (DA CoE) team, overseeing and supporting the Group’s delegated authority relationships. This involves performance reviews, new/renewal business oversight, driving DA strategy, and collaborating with the DA Oversight team on compliance, administration, operations, and governance. The role includes building relationships with underwriting teams, membership on the DA Underwriting Committee, and ownership of the DA ‘virtual’ P&L.

Responsibilities

  • Play a key role in all aspects of our Delegated Authority book
  • Design, build, and implement the underwriting-focused DA framework across the Group, including cross-selling products via MGAs
  • Proactively support the on-boarding of DA business, working with underwriters and the DA Oversight team
  • Shape the Group’s DA strategy and embed it across all lines of business
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor 'best practice' across all aspects of DA underwriting
  • Support the Group’s DA data, MI, and analysis ambitions
  • Design and implement DA MI and reports for Group and entity committees, DA CoE, underwriters, and senior management
  • Implement DA ‘virtual’ P&Ls at Group, entity, and divisional levels
  • Coordinate and oversee mid-year assessments of MGAs and other DA placement methods regarding performance and compliance/best practice
  • Drive the DA Underwriting Committee (DAUC) and DA Underwriting Working Group forward with clear aims and robust review/approval processes
  • Take responsibility for, or assist with, ad hoc projects relating to Delegated Authorities
  • Attend broker and client meetings and build rapport with brokers and MGAs
  • Improve the Group’s MGA pricing and rate change position
  • Improve the Group’s aggregate management and monitoring position
  • Support the building of business cases for writing new lines of business (via MGAs) and obtaining coverholder approvals
  • Enhance the oversight and controls framework with the Head of DA Oversight and their team
  • Act as a conduit between the DAUC and underwriters, utilizing the Monthly DA Underwriters Meeting
  • Carry out market analysis in relation to DA business and best practices
  • Communicate the DA Strategy, underwriting stance, and proposed changes/improvements
  • Support the Innovation team regarding new and existing MGAs
  • Support and influence the DA training program
  • Support Active Underwriters of 1084 and 1176 with DA Lloyd's/PBO matters
  • Support the Head of Underwriting at CIC with Central Bank of Ireland (CBI) matters
  • Comply with all policies and procedures, ensuring good customer outcomes and fair treatment of customers
  • Ensure compliance with Lloyd’s Byelaws and Minimum standards
  • Ensure compliance with FCA and PRA requirements (UK Regulator)
  • Ensure compliance with Central Bank of Ireland (Irish Regulator)
  • Ensure Customer Complaints are promptly identified, recorded, and referred
  • Ensure all required annual product reviews and fair value assessments for Chaucer Group are completed timely
  • Ensure all Chaucer Group Product Governance processes in the UCM are followed
  • Ensure that the principles of providing good customer outcomes and fair customer treatment are upheld by Agents and Service Providers

Requirements

  • MGA and binder experience, ideally from a Syndicate / Managing Agent / Lloyd’s of London perspective
  • Knowledge of Lloyd’s DA regulation with regards to binders
  • Insurance knowledge, ideally across multiple lines of business
  • Strong presentation skills, including Excel and Powerpoint
  • Analytical and strategic approach
  • DCOM and ATLAS knowledge (not essential)
  • ACII qualification
