About the Role

The Receptionist greets and welcomes patients and visitors, managing front desk responsibilities including patient flow, appointment scheduling, handling phone calls, validating insurance, data entry into EHR systems, and collecting payments.

Responsibilities

  • Greets and welcomes patients and visitors.
  • Manages front desk responsibilities.
  • Maintains patient flow.
  • Schedules appointments.
  • Handles phone calls.
  • Validates insurance eligibility.
  • Enters demographics, insurance, and other information into EHR and other systems.
  • Determines and collects time of service payments and past due balances.
  • Performs patient check-in efficiently and in compliance with policies.
  • Answers phone calls and directs them appropriately.
  • Obtains accurate patient and insurance information, collecting copays and deductibles.
  • Copies/scans patient access related hardcopy materials into the electronic medical record.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certified or obtained within three (3) months of hire.
  • Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three (3) months of hire.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and colleagues.
  • Must maintain a high degree of confidentiality when dealing with patient information.
  • Must possess a personal presence characterized by honesty, integrity, and caring.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals, and values of Trinity Health.
