About the Role
Own the product definition of the Workflow Engine, a shared foundation for AI systems to reliably perform multi-step work against the ERP. This role involves defining how work is represented and tracked, managing information handoffs, determining AI agent autonomy based on action reversibility, and overseeing approval, policy, and audit systems. You will guide the Workflow Engine from its initial build through market launch, defining priorities and securing resources.
Responsibilities
- Own the product vision and build sequence, deciding what ships first and aligning the roadmap to demand.
- Define how work is represented and handed off, owning core concepts for tracking units of work and information flow.
- Own the full system, including authoring, execution, quality, and governance functional areas.
- Own risk classification and approvals as a product feature, integrating logic into the system.
- Drive resolution of open technical design questions with relevant partners.
- Drive adoption across other product teams, owning the onboarding experience for new users.
- Own the outcome-based pricing model, including usage tracking and financial case development.
- Lead customer pilots to prove system functionality and reliability.
- Stay current on industry approaches to AI agent orchestration and workflow automation.
Requirements
- 8+ years in product management, with a track record of shipping platform or infrastructure products.
- 3+ years of experience with workflow orchestration, distributed systems, or applied AI/agent products.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Demonstrated empathy for both end customers and engineering teams.
- Platform mindset, focusing on ease of adoption and reusable building blocks.
- Mastery of customer empathy and working backwards from customer pain points.
- Entrepreneurial spirit with a 'Founder Mode' mindset.
- Ability to quickly generate prototypes for early feedback.
- Ability to lead strategic direction and set priorities for AI applications.
- Proven ability to validate customer needs, prioritize ruthlessly, and build a roadmap.
- Working understanding of distributed systems, including patterns for handling partial failure and rollback.
- Strong working knowledge of AI agents, their information retrieval, and evaluation.
- Comfort defining clear specs and success criteria in a fast-moving, hands-on environment.
- Understanding of how risk classification, approvals, audit trails, and emergency controls build customer trust.
- Data-driven decision-making and financial fluency for pricing and ROI models.
- Ability to drive alignment across peer leads and adjacent teams without formal authority.
- Familiarity with modern, AI-assisted software delivery and cloud/SaaS platforms.
