About the Role

Flex is seeking a Process Engineer in Austin, TX, to support manufacturing operations by focusing on cost, quality, and delivery improvements. This role is crucial for enhancing our manufacturing organization.

Responsibilities

  • Recognize manufacturing processes, technologies, techniques, and products.
  • Define, implement, and evaluate proposed designs and processes for manufacturability.
  • Identify root causes of failures in the manufacturing process, individually or with engineering stakeholders.
  • Participate in daily production activities and effectively solve daily issues.
  • Prepare justification, purchase, and implement capital equipment for production.
  • Oversee new process equipment production.
  • Oversee the raising and introduction of engineering change orders (ECOs).
  • Establish robust, repeatable, and reproducible process parameters.
  • Troubleshoot process-related issues and develop, implement, and own process control methodologies.
  • Participate in cycle time and process improvement activities.
  • Evaluate and select engineered materials.
  • Implement statistical process research on new and existing products.
  • Implement safety, productivity, and contribution improvements.
  • Improve manufacturing techniques and throughput.
  • Provide continuous development of manufacturing techniques to improve in-house capabilities and contributions.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation and review processing methods.
  • Interface with production on all activities associated with new process implementation and transfer.
  • Assist in developing and providing training to production personnel during new technology transfer.
  • Provide equipment maintenance and repair support as required.
  • Guide cost improvement/reduction programs.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in mechanical, chemical, or industrial engineering field or equivalent experience and training.
  • 5 years of experience with customer-focused teams in Automation, Mechanical engineering, or Industrial engineering.
  • Experience with AutoCAD tools.
  • Experience with Root Cause Failure Analysis.
  • Experience with Process Improvement utilizing several lean manufacturing methodologies.
  • Experience with Dispense systems such as Asymtek, PVA, Mycronic or other.
  • Experience with processes including Underfill, Staking, Masking, Conformal coat, Edgebond, Thermal interface material dispense, Cure process knowledge, and Automated optical inspection post material dispense.
  • Use of Electronic Assembly tools may be required: color code, component, and schematics.
