About the Role
A fast-growing, AI-powered EdTech startup based in Berlin is looking for a Visiting Finance Analyst to join the Finance team. This is a rare opportunity for an early-career finance professional or student to work directly alongside the Director of Finance & People and company founders, with real ownership and exposure to leadership. The role offers a front-row seat to building a modern finance function from the ground up, ideal for those curious, proactive, and excited about the intersection of finance and AI-driven automation.
Responsibilities
- Act as a right hand to the Director of Finance, preparing decision briefs, supporting cross-functional initiatives, and keeping projects on track.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes and coordinate with external auditors.
- Contribute to accurate, reliable financial reporting across multiple jurisdictions.
- Assist with operational controlling, including budget planning, financial forecasting, and liquidity tracking.
- Build monthly reports, conduct ad hoc deep dives, and translate data into clear, decision-ready analysis.
- Identify and implement opportunities to automate manual workflows using AI tools, low-code platforms, and smart integrations.
- Help transition the finance function from static reporting to dynamic, AI-enhanced financial intelligence.
- Coordinate with tax advisors, auditors, and legal providers, and collaborate cross-functionally with teams such as Growth and Engineering.
Requirements
- Currently studying, on a gap year, or recently graduated in business, finance, economics, or a related field.
- Strong analytical mindset with solid Excel skills.
- Keen interest in AI tools and automation.
- Foundational understanding of accounting principles.
- Strong written and spoken German and English.
- Proactive, self-driven, and pragmatic.
- Comfortable taking ownership and working closely with leadership.
- Prior internship or coursework in finance, accounting, controlling, or consulting.
- Familiarity with BI or low-code platforms.
- Knowledge of German accounting practices (HGB) or IFRS.
