About the Role
PwC's UK Economics & Regulatory Strategy team seeks an experienced regulatory economist at Senior Manager grade to join its expanding practice. The role involves applying strategic thinking and economic theory to real-world business, policy, and regulatory issues, particularly within the regulated utilities sector.
Responsibilities
- Manage projects in the Regulation space, including regulatory Business Plan development and review, incentive design, cost benchmarking, and regulatory finance.
- Lead key business development activities, including proposal drafting and production of targeted Thought Leadership.
- Manage and mentor junior staff, including coaching and upskilling them.
- Author or support the production of reports based on client commissions.
- Provide expert advice and assistance on regulatory matters in large consultancy assignments.
- Run and support team tutorials on regulatory economics.
- Review team work to ensure quality delivery for clients.
Requirements
- Demonstrable professional experience in regulatory economics, gained from working in economic regulators, regulated companies, or in a consultancy.
- Previous relevant experience focusing on projects in one or more of the following industries: gas and electricity networks; generation; and water.
- Fluency in spoken and written English.
- Experience in client management and bridging the gap between technical and strategic client teams.
- Ability to apply strategic thinking and economic theory in real-world contexts.
- Knowledge and experience in delivering successful projects across areas such as regulatory mechanism design, regulatory strategy development, price review cycle understanding, incentive design, cost benchmarking, regulatory finance, and regulatory due diligence.
