About the Role
The Aircraft Fueler ensures safe and efficient aircraft refueling by operating fuel trucks, conducting inspections, managing emergencies, maintaining records, and collaborating with airline personnel to support airport safety and operations. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, accurate, and efficient refueling of aircraft in compliance with aviation regulations and company safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently conduct aircraft fueling operations in accordance with company, airline, and regulatory guidelines
- Operate fuel trucks, hydrant carts, stationary carts, and related fueling equipment
- Connect and disconnect fueling hoses and monitor fuel flow during operations
- Ensure accurate loading, distribution, and balancing of fuel in accordance with aircraft specifications
- Conduct defueling procedures as required
- Perform daily quality control inspections on fueling equipment to ensure cleanliness, safety, and functionality
- Maintain accurate records of fueling transactions, fuel quantities, and related documentation
- Fuel various Ground Service Equipment including Hydrant Trucks, Fuel Trucks, Tanker Trucks, Tugs, and Belt Loaders
- Respond promptly and appropriately to fuel spills, leaks, or emergency situations in accordance with safety protocols
- Work outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions
- Demonstrate regular, predictable attendance at the assigned work location
- Exemplify PrimeFlight customer service and safety standards
- Perform any additional duties as assigned by management
Requirements
- 21 years of age or older
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Valid DOT Medical Card or Medical Examiner's Certificate (MCSA-5876)
- Active Hazmat (H), Tanker (N), and Air Brake endorsements
- Ability to pass a DOT drug screening and comply with all DOT regulations
- Communicate effectively in English (reading, writing, speaking)
- Basic math skills for fuel calculations and documentation
- Ability to access and interpret information in print and electronically, including iPads/Tablets, computers, and mobile devices
- Ability to communicate effectively both in person and through electronic means
- Eligibility to acquire required credentials and clearances (FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs, U.S. Postal Service, as applicable)
- Ability to work any day/shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays within a 24/7 operation
- Ability to lift up to 70 pounds
- Prolonged standing and walking in indoor and outdoor environments
- Ability to reach with arms and grasp with hands
- Ability to push, pull, bend, stretch, squat, kneel, crouch, and work in confined spaces
- Ability to climb and work at elevated heights
- Exposure to moderate and at times high noise levels
- Exposure to biohazards, chemicals, fuel vapors, and outdoor elements
- Ability to hear and respond to spoken voice and audible alarms
- Tasks involving repetitive motions of the arms, wrists, hands, and/or fingers
- Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
