About the Role

The Admissions Counselor is responsible for recruiting prospective students for The Culinary Institute of America’s (CIA) three domestic campuses within a specific geographic territory. Recruitment involves various outreach methods, admissions presentations, and CIA events, both on and off campus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a recruitment plan including communication outreach, campus events, and personalized contact.
  • Communicate with prospective students via phone, email, text, and other personalized methods to guide them through the admissions funnel to enrollment.
  • Conduct CIA presentations to groups of students, educators, parents, and influencers to share information and build relationships.
  • Participate in a variety of Admissions events, including open houses, accepted student days, online presentations, information sessions, and other specialty events.
  • Lead campus tours for prospective students and families, highlighting key admissions selling points.
  • Form relationships with key CIA Alumni, educators, and student supporters to aid in recruitment efforts.
  • Manage student files through the admissions process, making admission decisions and encouraging enrollment of admitted students.
  • Consult with supervisor on admissions decisions for applicants with unusual or legal issues.
  • Prepare and submit regular reports on accomplishments and activities.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
  • Form relationships and provide customized recruitment for special populations such as veterans, Online Bachelor’s candidates, career changers, career advancers, and degree completion students.
  • Advise appropriate students on degree paths based on transfer credits.
  • Coordinate, plan, and execute on-and-off campus admissions travel and events to assist in student recruitment.
  • Form relationships with school counselors and high school educators from key feeder schools in the assigned territory.
  • Advise international students through the application process, including specialized international student requirements.
  • Form relationships with CIA partners worldwide who assist in guiding students to the CIA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience within college admissions, sales, outreach, student organization leadership, or related experience.
  • Driver’s License required with no more than one (1) moving violation in the past year.

  • Ability to conduct presentations with professionalism and confidence.
  • Customer service skills with a hospitable approach to guests.
  • Ability to collaborate with department members and work effectively with the college community.
  • Strong computer experience, including proficiency with MS Office suite.
  • High level of energy and self-motivation.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple competing tasks.
  • Solid organizational skills for follow-up and record-keeping.
