About the Role

The Associate Vice President of Income Tax will lead the corporate income tax, planning and advisory services for the organization. This role fosters strong partnerships across the business to strategically manage corporate tax initiatives, including presenting findings and providing recommendations to minimize any tax burden or risk.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing corporate income tax team.
  • Lead the income tax team in significant projects, including M&A and emerging business initiatives, collaborating with the AVP, Indirect Tax, to provide support to the VP Taxation in proactively ensuring that the income tax implications and optimal tax treatment of mergers, acquisitions, dispositions, reorganization, emerging income tax legislation, and other initiatives, are appropriately assessed and communicated to all stakeholders, recommending optimal tax solutions and strategies.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external partners (e.g. Finance, Legal, IT, government authorities, etc.) to understand current and emerging business issues and advise on income tax implications, domestic and foreign.
  • Lead the delivery of income tax compliance services, managing income tax risk and team resource allocation.
  • Provide technical leadership across income tax compliance, tax accounting, Pillar2, EIFEL, M&A, complex transactions, and audit support.
  • Advance the ongoing modernization of income tax compliance and tax accounting processes through technology, automation, and practical process design, continuing to develop the vision in collaboration with the team.
  • Proactively monitor the consolidated entity structure and emerging business models to manage the consolidated effective income tax rate and income tax risk.

Skills

  • Strong Excel skills
  • Ability to easily work on various technology platforms including Microsoft365, Oracle TRCS or Longview and Co-pilot
  • Experience in managing priorities, workflows and projects with discipline and accountability
  • High-level perspective of processes & ability to understand how to drive efficiencies in a process but also maintain relevant controls at the required level.
